How to Retain Good Employees
Employees
are assert for an Organization. Retain them is the part of a Human Resources
Function. Human Resources Manager should have to identify and analysis the
grievance of employees and provide remedy actions to solve and retain the
employee. According the Robert Imbrie (2022) Ulrich the guru of Human Resources
Management following are the reasons for high employee turnover.
·
Poor employee benefits or pay
Glassdoor
Study (2017) most reason for employee turnover is benefits and pay of the
employee. Employees are comparing their benefits with the employees who are
working in the other companies. More or less the mindset of the employees are
turn towards the places which are paying them more.
Also, when employee completed more working years in the same company, employer is
used to reduce their benefits. This occurs the employee is in the comfort zone. But experienced employee can perform more than the newly recruited
employee. When the organizations are providing more benefits to the new
employee, automatically experienced employee disappointing and searching for
alternatives. End result of the process is unhappy employee will leave from the
organization. Organization have to implement performance based payment
structure for the organization.
·
Uninspiring company culture
Organizations
always have to inspire their employee. Motivate them by appreciation or
monitory reward is a must for retain the employee. Some organizations are
hardly inspire their employees. They thought that if organization inspire
employee, he or she will expect more form the company. Organization have to
inspire their employees by provide them more opportunities to perform.
·
No development opportunities
Employees
are expecting carrier guidance and growth from an organization. Sadly, most of
the organizations are reluctant to provide development opportunities because
they are thinking employees will demand more after they were knowledgeable.
Organizations have the provide development opportunities by provide equal
opportunities for all employees.
·
Lack of employee recognition
Organizations
are reluctant to recognize their employees. They wanted to implement the power
culture in the organization. Employer knows that employee is done something to
recognize. But reluctant to recognize their work due to ego issue or company
cultural issue. Organization have to recognize their employees according to
their performance.
·
No consideration for the employee lifecycle
Employee
wants to climb the hierarchy of the organization. But organization is reluctant
to provide opportunities for their future growth. Sometime in the organization
have the narrow structure. It is also demotivate the employees and make them to
leave from the organization. Organization have to maintain the wider employee
lifecycle to motivate the employees.
Above
are the factors for the employees to leave from their organizations. By
avoiding those organizations can retain their employees. Hope all have agreed with my statement.
